As most of you know my son was diagnosed with CML aged 12. From the first day of our new life was out of balance I wanted to know all about this malignant blood cancer and all about available therapy options. I didn’t understand why there are several TKI’s but only one is approved for treatment in children. I heard of EUPATI and the possibility to become a trainee of a course “Medical Research and Development”. This was exactly what I looked for and therefore I applied.
The EUPATI Patient Expert Training Course is an outstanding tool to acquire well-founded expertise for all further discussions with patients and particularly physicians and pharma’s on eye-to-eye level. All learning matters are provided on an online platform in well coherent lessons. Especially the short and clear formulated contents helped me to use my bare time to learn effectively.
Anybody of our CML advocate network should use such a magnificent tool to improve knowledge for further projects and our daily advocate work. During two face-to-face meetings you will get the possibility to meet advocates from other diseases and learn about their work. I was impressed to hear their stories, projects and results of their engaged work. Knowledge is a prerequisite for change insufficient options for patients – to provide best treatment and medications for all CML patients in our community.
I want advise all of you to become an EUPATI trainee. Take the opportunity for “Learn, Share and Grow”. Don’t be discouraged by the duration of more than one year, the wide subject matter or knowledge checks. As I am a very busy self-employed with a family, a house and a great garden, cat and dog and a child with chronical disease I don’t regret my participation. Yes, I’m really proud to be a EUPATI Patient Expert now!
