We are looking forward to the 13th CML Horizons conference, held in Barcelona / Spain on 1-3 May 2015. The CML Horizons Steering Committee has worked hard to ensure that the conference includes topics of importance to the CML patient community, and provides a unique opportunity for participants to share experiences and best practice. We hope that as a result of this meeting, CML patient groups globally will improve their capacity to meet the needs of their patients, and strengthen their advocacy activities.
Registration is now open for leaders of CML patient organisations.
CML Horizons 2015 starts on Friday, 1 May 2015 at 10:30 with two parallel sessions (one session on "CML 101 / Horizons 101" and one on "HTA 101" or "CML Advocates in Research"). This session will be followed by a welcome lunch and the official welcome of the conference. The conference ends on Sunday, 3 May 2015 with a farewell lunch from 13:00-14:00, followed by a city tour for those that stay over.
The program features world-renowned CML experts. Confirmed speakers are Michael Mauro from the USA, Andreas Hochhaus from Germany, Prof Arnon Nagler from Israel, Frederic Millot from France, Harri Manon from India, and others. We expect further confirmations by end of January.
All delegates are required to register as soon as possible but not later than by 1 April 2015 on our registration website at http://www.cmladvocates.net/cmlhorizons/, then click on "Register now". All participants who are booking their own flights are also asked to provide their flight details, as this is required to plan local transport to the venue. Please send your flights details to "Liberty Spain" Sara Guix <>, by 1 April 2015 at the latest.
TRAVEL COSTS, CONFERENCE FEE
For regular patient delegates:
Patient advocates are usually expected to cover their own travel to Barcelona airport (e.g. flights). Transport from the airport to the conference venue will be provided for free. A conference fee of EUR 500 per delegate will be raised. The fee will cover all costs including attendance at the conference, max. 3 nights of accommodation in a single room, local transport, food and drinks, and Internet access in the conference room, etc. It will not cover incidental costs like bar, mini-bar, room WiFi, phone calls, taxi costs, upgrades for double rooms, relatives attending the conference, and any other non-official activities.
As in previous years, please contact local sponsors in your country as soon as possible to cover your travel and conference fee! In addition, limited number of travel scholarships are available for advocates who are interested in attending the conference and are not able to raise local sponsors. Those that are granted will receive an economy class return ticket and/or will not need to pay the conference fee. The criteria to receive a scholarship / travel grant are described here:
Interested advocates should submit a completed travel grant (scholarship) application form by 16 March 2015. Please email your application to Natasa Kokir at email:
For Steering Committee members, receivers of scholarships and speakers:
We will book flights for Steering Committee members, those receiving a travel grant from us, and speakers. Please do not book your own travel in these cases. To arrange your flights, please contact our travel agency "All Tours" in Israel as soon as possible, and indicate your preferences for departure day and time, which airport, and airline. Also provide your preferred return day and time. The travel agency will try to book your flights according to your preferences, taking also into account costs as our non-profit organization has a very limited budget.
